Combined Academic Publishers sold to Management

(February 2013)

Combined Academic Publishers (CAP) is Europe's leading distributor of North American university presses. CAP offers specialist academic sales, marketing and distribution covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The company was founded in October 1998 by Nicholas Esson, on the principle of concentrating on providing a first-class service to a deliberately limited number of compatible and high-quality client presses. Before founding CAP Nicholas Esson co-founded and was Marketing Director of UCL Press.

CAP's prestigious client list includes Duke University Press, Fordham University Press, University of Illinois Press, Indiana University Press, McGill-Queen's University Press, University of Nebraska Press, New York University Press, Temple University Press, University of Texas Press and University of Washington Press.

CAP has finalised a restructuring agreement with Julia Monk and David Pickering which sees David Pickering joining as Director, effective immediately.  The restructuring agreements were arranged by Bertoli Mitchell.

Nicholas Esson said: "Bertoli Mitchell were crucial in advising and assisting in this arrangement. They provided strategic, hands-on support at every stage of the process, assisting to create strong collaboration between the parties. Their service has been exemplary."
