International Bibliography of the Social Sciences sold by LSE to ProQuest
(January 2010)
ProQuest, an information technology firm supporting global research, has acquired the London School of Economics' classic International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS). Established in 1951, IBSS is the foremost Abstracting and Indexing database for social science and interdisciplinary research, currently holding more than 2.5 million bibliographic references to journal articles as well as to books, reviews and chapters. IBSS also expands by more than 120,000 new additions each year. Bertoli Mitchell, acting as exclusive strategic and financial adviser to the London School of Economics, led the negotiations and managed the transaction process to completion.
Jean Sykes, CIO, LSE wrote: “Bertoli Mitchell were fantastic. They very quickly grasped our aims and concerns, took command of the process from start to finish, and at every stage gave us confidence that we were in good hands. The team we worked with were formidably professional, but also very approachable – always on hand to offer advice on smaller matters, as well as keeping us on track for the bigger picture. We could not have found a better company to work with on this, and were delighted with the outcome they helped us to secure.”
