Beech Tree Publishing Journals sold to OUP

(December 2011)

We are pleased to announce that Oxford University Press has entered into an agreement to buy the two proprietary journals of Beech Tree Publishing, Science and Public Policy and Research Evaluation. Bertoli Mitchell acted on behalf of the vendors, William and Gillian Page.

Science and Public Policy is a leading, refereed, international journal on public policies for science, technology and innovation, and on their implications for other public policies. It covers basic, applied, high, low, and any other types of S&T, and rich or poorer countries. It is read in around 70 countries, in universities, government agencies, consultancies and industry. William Page has published Science and Public Policy on behalf of International Science Policy Foundation Limited since 1984, acquiring ownership in 1992. It is consistently in the top 100 most downloaded publications on Ingenta Connect.

Research Evaluation is a peer-reviewed, international, interdisciplinary journal founded by William Page in 1991 and covering the emerging methods, experiences and lessons for appraising and evaluating research.

Bill Page commented: "Offers from potential buyers of my titles had started to come in when I thought professional guidance might now save me from making mistakes. My hunch was right. Bertoli Mitchell were invaluable in guiding me through the process, in upping the offers, and through due diligence and contract negotiations."
